I’d just like to wish each and every one of my readers a very happy and healthy 2014!
If you’re getting married this year, trust me when I say that the next few months are going to WHIZZ by like you would not believe – your big day will be here before you know it!
It feels very strange for me to say that my husband (eek!) and I got married LAST YEAR but I am very excited to see what this year holds for us! I look forward to our mini-moon in Sherwood Forest next week, our honeymoon to Sicily in May and the first birthdays where we can buy each other husband and wife cards!
I’m also looking forward to continuing writing the Live, Laugh, Love, Marriage blog and meeting more Brides who are in the planning stages of their weddings. I’ll also be expanding what I do with LLLM – I’m hoping to provide a service to Brides to help with planning their big day; both in person and via an online service. So it’s all VERY exciting!!
And as promised, here’s a sneak peek from our wedding on Saturday 28th December…
I spend A LOT of time researching weddings; mainly to find things to include in my wedding! Through spending all these millions of hours on Pinterest and Google, I’ve noticed some of the wedding trends throughout the year!
So here are my top three wedding themes of 2013…
The vintage wedding theme has been creeping up in the wedding world over the last couple of years and I feel that this year it has really peaked! From vintage dresses, to vintage centrepieces, all things with a nod to the past have been REALLY popular!
As a devoted lover of all things rustic myself, I’ve noticed the popularity of natural and rustic items increasing! When we decided to have a rustic styled wedding back in 2011 we thought we were being quite original – but although I haven’t seen many UK brides taking it to quite the same level as my fiancé and I are, I have noticed more items that could be included in a rustic wedding being stocked in high street shops like The Range and Dunelm Mill which are famous haunts for brides-to-be so I guess its on the up!
Cadbury purple is EVERYWHERE this year! On one of the wedding Facebook groups I am a part of, there is 20 Brides with Cadbury purple as the main colour in their colour scheme. I love Cadbury purple as it’s such a rich colour and looks beautiful as Bridesmaid dresses. I do think it’ll start to dip off in the next year as there have been SO many weddings this year and I think a new colour will increase in popularity.
This is my first ‘married lady’ post for the Live, Laugh, Love, Marriage blog! Woo!
So it has been just over 48 hours since my HUSBAND and I tied the knot, and it has been go, go, go ever since! What I will say for now, is that the weather was PERFECT, the dress was VERY uncomfortable, but the day was the most wonderful mix of amazing and emotional moments!
I’ll explain our big day in more detail soon and share lots of photos as soon as our photographer sends them over to us, but I just wanted to check in, say hello and let you know that I’d made it to ‘the other side’!
Happy Christmas!! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas Day with your friends and families, and big hellos to anyone who got engaged over the last couple of days!
In two days I will be getting married!! I cannot believe how time has whizzed by over the last few months! And my big day is almost here!
Tomorrow I will be heading over to our venue with a car full of decorations (plus we have roped in the Father and Brother in Law to help) to set up our venue ready for our wedding. Hopefully I will be able to share a few sneaky pictures with you all before I leave to go to ‘the other side’!
So my fiancé and I have 23 days until our big day (cue screeches of OMGGGG!) and things are coming along well (I think!).
My wedding ring is ALMOST finished – it’s been a long wait but I’m SO excited to see it! Fingers crossed its all I imagined it to be!
I also received the shawls for my Bridesmaids in the Post this morning! They were sent from China and when I was given an approximate posting date it said they could arrive as late as 7th Jaunary 2014 – over a week after our wedding!!! I had a little panic and messaged the seller and asked if they could be fast tracked and for no extra cost they arrived today! I checked them over at the Post Office where I had to collect them from, and then has another panic because they looked very purple compared to the photos I’d seen so I was worried they wouldn’t go with the burgundy Bridesmaid dresses! Luckily, when I got home and held them together they looked fine! Our wedding is very mismatched with lots of different shades of burgundy/wine featuring and so it didn’t look bad at all!
We also made our favours this week! They’re now all finished and in a box ready to transport to our venue!
AND I managed to find a new nail technician after the salon I was supposed to be using decided that they would close the day before our after all!
When I first started looking at wedding magazines and planning websites I read a few articles about buying a special wedding day perfume and so the hunt began to find my own!
I seem to have a very sensitive nose and picky tastes when it comes to fragrances as it took me a long time to find one I loved! And the one I loved was one of the last ones I looked at; Burberry Body Tender. I had a £30 gift voucher I’d earned through answering questionnaires, and Debenhams also had a 10% off day on fragrances so I ended up only paying £5.10 for my special perfume! Bargain!! And, I also received an ivory faux leather vanity case for free as part of a promotional offer! Yay! So I’ve decided I’m going to put all my jewellery and my perfume in there to keep them safe until the morning of the wedding.
Can’t wait to wear it in less than a month’s time!
P.S. A fab tip I was told my my dress shop was that if you spritz your perfume into the petticoats under your dress the fragrance will stay with you longer and you’ll be able to smell it as you move! And NEVER spray the perfume onto your dress as it can leave a greasy stain!
